About Me:
I used to wonder how do you build a good web site and how do you get it on the web for everyone to see.
By searching the web, I got my feet wet using a WYSIWYG program and was excited, but there were only so many things I could do with that software. I was tied into the what the program allowed me to do and I wanted to do so much more!
I discovered Finger Lakes Community College and graduated with honors with an A.A.S. Degree in Information Technology.
The Web Programming classes gave me a solid background in the newest web coding and an understanding of basic web design.
Other classes such as Computer Law and Policy, E-Commerce, Flash, PHP, etc., gave me a better overall understanding of the internet.
For my Internship I worked for the Greater Rochester Spina Bifida Association building them a web site from scratch. Being all volunteers, the Chairperson had requested software that could be used by anyone who had a computer and a working knowledge of typing. During this intership my knowledge of web design, content, finding user friendly software expanded greatly. My communication, listening, and training skills were exceptional since I communicated only on the phone or via emails during the whole internship.
I do not manage the site, but you will see the site on my Web Design Projects page.
During the Internship I started working with Dreamweaver and Photoshop and have been building my skills in working with this software ever since. Using software has some benefits, but many times the coding of a website is done manually using HTML, .PHP and Javascript. I recently had to dust off my Flash skills and created a small flash program for the homepage of Jeanne Crane Coaching and Consulting. With Photoshop I have been able to create some logos, my favorite being SBOnLine.org.
The learning never ends and that is how it should be. Keeping up with the Internet requires me to keep up-to-date and keeping my skills honed!
